The main shaft is a critical component of a wind turbine, responsible for transmitting the rotational energy from the rotor to the gearbox or direct-drive generator. Its installation requires strict adherence to technical specifications to ensure operational safety and efficiency. The following is a detailed installation process divided into four key stages.
Pre-installation Inspection and Preparation
Prior to installation, conduct a comprehensive inspection of the main shaft and matching components. Check for surface defects like scratches, cracks, or corrosion, and verify that dimensional accuracy meets design requirements using precision measuring tools. Meanwhile, clean the installation site to remove dust, debris, and oil stains, and ensure the hoisting equipment is in good condition with sufficient load-bearing capacity. Shaft Lifting and Positioning
Adopt a stable lifting method using dedicated lifting lugs on the main shaft to avoid damaging the shaft surface. During lifting, control the speed and stability of the hoisting equipment to prevent collisions with other turbine components. Align the main shaft with the installation interface of the rotor hub and gearbox based on the positioning marks. Use alignment tools to adjust the horizontal and vertical deviation of the shaft, ensuring the coaxiality error is within the allowable range. This step is crucial to reduce vibration and wear during operation.
Bearing Installation and Shaft Assembly
First, apply an appropriate amount of lubricant to the bearing inner ring and the matching surface of the main shaft. Install the bearings onto the shaft in sequence, using a press or heating method to ensure a tight fit-avoid hammering directly to prevent bearing damage. Then, assemble the seals, end caps, and other components, and fasten the connecting bolts according to the specified torque value using a torque wrench. During assembly, continuously check the rotation flexibility of the main shaft to ensure no jamming occurs.
Final Adjustment and Commissioning
After the main assembly is completed, perform a final inspection of all connections to confirm that bolts are properly tightened and components are correctly installed. Conduct a static rotation test of the main shaft to check for abnormal noise or resistance. If equipped with monitoring sensors , verify their installation and calibration. Finally, carry out a trial operation of the turbine unit, monitor the operating status of the main shaft in real time, and record key parameters such as temperature, vibration, and rotational speed. Adjust and optimize any deviations until all indicators meet the operational requirements.
